Client Happenings - Yellow Conference

This past week, I had the opportunity to attend the Yellow Conference along with MISSIO Hair. For those that don’t know, the Yellow conference is a conference for women working hard to make the world a better place. The event brings entrepreneurs, business owners and creatives all in one place for two days of inspirational speakers, workshops etc.

MISSIO was hand selected to be part of the Do Good Goods Marketplace, a curated collection of social impact companies from around the U.S. We were able to share our amazing mission and products with such a remarkable group of women, and even got the opportunity to hear from some speakers too when we could step away from the booth.

Some of my favorites from the weekend:

Morgan Harper Nichols: If you don’t know and follow her, you’re missing out. Morgan is a singer/songwriter turned poet who uses her platform as a service to others. She does this by allowing people to share their personal stories with her and every day, she publishes a poem on her platform for someone. It’s kept anonymous but, if it’s for you, she’ll send it to you via email as well so you know it’s yours.

When the emcee announced her, she said, “Morgan gives words and expression to the season we feel we can’t express” and it couldn’t be more true. I’ve read so many of Morgan’s words that I have helped me through those tough times, and I know she’s lifted up so many people. Hearing her speak has been a longtime dream of mine and not one I will soon forget.

The Unspoken Podcast: We also got the unique experience to hear Ruthie Lindsey and Miles Adcox do a live taping of the Unspoken Podcast. I’ve been a fan for a while and was so excited to hear them but what I didn’t know was that there would be a surprise guest. That guest was Connie Lim, a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter, known for becoming a viral sensation with her song, Quiet, at the Women’s March.

Hearing Connie (aka MILCK) speak and sing was one of the most powerful things I’ve heard in a while. She has the most fascinating story of adversity which she bravely shared with the audience and damn, the girl can SING! It was a literal mic drop moment for me and one that left me feeling so incredibly inspired to be surrounded by such amazing women dedicated to the greater good.

A few days have passed since the conference and I’m already thinking about the next one…I love being able to spend time with other amazing business owners that prove this work is worth doing.
