The Debut of BIDE Market

This past week I hit a pretty crazy and cool career milestone…

When I met Parisa, founder of Town & Anchor, back in April, we bonded so quickly. What started as a conversation on PR goals turned into so much more. As she told me about her big dreams for her business including this market concept, I remember looking at her and saying, “Ok, we can do that.” Only one minor detail…I had never actually created a market before and had no idea what I was getting myself into (whoops).

But just like that, BIDE Market was born. It took countless hours of planning, brainstorming and research, but slowly but surely, the ideas started coming together. The cool thing is, the more we reached out, the more positive reinforcement we received. Everyone was so encouraging, expressed how needed this was and how excited they were to be a part of it. BIDE was becoming real and we knew we were onto something big.

The past few months have been a whirlwind. From press, to partnerships to permitting, we did it all! And, on September 15, Chicago’s first luxury sustainable shopping experience debuted to the public. The entire market was vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, and zero waste, while still serving up Chicago's finest sustainability guidance, clothing, accessories, beauty products, children’s items and homewares. Not only that, we had some AMAZING speakers that are not only leading the charge as female entrepreneurs, but creating real change in the sustainability space too.

When the doors opened to the flood of people waiting outside this past Sunday, I looked around the room and felt unbelievably proud. To see all these amazing people in one space and knowing I was the reason they’re there felt unreal. As an entrepreneur, I founded my business on the premise that you could make a difference in this world, no matter what cause you choose. BIDE to me was proof in the power of people coming together to make a real difference and that that you really can do anything you put your mind to.

Don’t worry…we’re not even close to being finished! BIDE will be seasonal so we’re coming back for our holiday pop-up in December.
