Client Happenings: Darling Dinner

One of my favorite things about working in PR is when I find an opportunity that is such a perfect alignment for my clients. The recent Darling Dinner in Nashville was one of those experiences and I had the pleasure of attending on behalf of MISSIO Hair.

I’ve been a fan of Darling Magazine for as long as I can remember. With a mission to remind women of their worth, unique beauty and purpose, their content is always inspiring, thought provoking and empowering. And, while they are a media company first and foremost, they place a strong emphasis on the power of human connection.

Which brings me to the Darling Dinner series…Darling Magazine co-hosts dinners across the country in collaboration with various brands. These dinners are all dedicated to a particular topic or cause aligned with their overall mission and throughout the evening, questions are posed to guide the conversation on a particular topic of choice.

Now that you know the background, you can imagine my reaction when I saw Darling was doing one of these dinners at and in collaboration with Thistle Farms, a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to helping women survivors recover and heal from prostitution, trafficking, and addiction.

MISSIO Hair is also dedicated to the same cause and have created an affordable-luxury line of hair products to use beauty to restore hope and fight human trafficking.

After discussing the idea with MISSIO, I reached out to the team at Darling and Thistle Farms and they could not have been more excited about MISSIO’s interest in collaboration. We ended up attending the dinners, participating in an impactful conversation and provided some of MISSIO’s “product with purpose” for all guests in attendance.

I left the evening feeling grateful for not only the opportunity to collaborate, but the conversation too. As a woman entrepreneur, I’m so inspired by women who bravely share their stories – the good, the bad and the ugly – and support one another through anything they may be going through in their lives. And, as we were reminded at the dinner, while you may never really be able to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, there’s a lot more that connects us if you’re open to finding it.
